Paroli or Reverse Martingale

In this article we discuss the Paroli System, also known as the Reverse Martingale, Parley or Pyramid System.

Whereas in the the Martingale, you increase your bets if you lose to cover any previous losses (by doubling them), in the Paroli System you double your bets if you win until you reach a pre-ordained profit target. The idea is to latch on to a winning streak and accelerate your wins. This kind of betting profile was originally developed in the world of horse racing to capitalise on a run of good luck or strong prediction of form.

Whereas The Martingale is a Negative Progression System, the Paroli is a Positive Progression System.
Let´s have a quick look at how this works in practice with an example- this won´t take long as it´s a pretty simple system.
You begin with a bet level decided on before hitting the table (set a unit bet the same as you would in Martingale). Let´s say for argument sake that it is £2. Let´s say we bet on red and black comes up. We bet on red again with the same starter bet of £2. If we win the next bet, we bet £4, and if we win the next we put down £8 and so on. If we lose a bet at any time, the bet level comes down again to £2, our starter.

It is important in this system to keep a close track of your budget and to monitor your profit or loss. Set a profit target and stop-loss limit for your session and as soon as you hit it stop. It is very easy with this system to get carried away and start to believe that you are on an amazing streak. You won´t be. Remember, you can lose at any time and this will wipe any profits clean. Similarly, if you are going into the red and can´t seem to get yourself out of the hole, stop when you hit your session budget or stop loss limit. NEVER chase losses- this is a dangerous game. Enjoy yourself and treat this as entertainment- the best way to do that is to set an affordable budget before the session and stick to it. Don´t change your tactics halfway through a session because you "feel" Lady Luck is with you.

Most people play this on even money bets, as you want a fairly even distribution of your bet type coming up. And we cannot emphasise enough that you MUST formulate a strict plan of how much you are aiming to net before throwing the towel in. The you can either begin another run at your starter bet (£2 in this instance) ir call it a day.

On the positive side, The Paroli, Parlay or Reverse Martingale System does not need a big bankroll to execute it, epecially if you set your forst bet at a modest level. Any losses will come early in the progression or will be offset by previous wins.

On the negative side, it is easy to get carried away and to go "one round too many" and wipe out all your profits. It is not easy to stop if you feel your luck is in and you are having the winning streak of your life. That is why it is essential to have a plan and stick to it at the start of the session. Don´t employ this strategy "on the hoof". Always have a plan Stan.

Like all betting systems, the Paroli won´t improve your odds at the game. It will only give you a method of betting to make your session more methodical and less random. And by the way, this doesn´t necessarily mean that you will win more either!
