This roulette story dates back to 2004, and is still doing the rounds thanks to the incredible nerves (or stupidity depending on which way you look at it) it must have taken to carry it off.
Ashley Revell, a professional gambler bet £76,840 on a single spin of a roulette wheel....and won. He walked away after one bet with £153,680.
Revell´s win was broadcast on Sky One. He raised the cash for the one off "flutter" from car boot sales and auctions before heading out to the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Just don't do this playing Online Roulette!
Ashley said he only decided at the last moment to choose red, and when the ball finally came to rest in a red pocket, he punched the air and was greeted with a bottle of bubbly and huge cheers from the spectators.
After winning, he said: "That was just the most amazing experience I have ever had in my life.
"The first thing I am going to do is buy some new clothes, some sunglasses, obviously!
"It was just wicked. I can't describe my feelings going through that.
"It has just been a complete sort of rollercoaster ride. First it's on, then it's off."
Revell described his all or nothing bet as the "simplest and most pure bet you can do".
Revell said that his father wasn´t happy about the entire stunt (surprise surprise!) and told him to get a job. And he also said that it was an "insane" thing to do, and he'd never repeat it.
Blue Square, the UK sportsbook, donated some money toward Revell's bet in exchange for him changing his middle name to "Blue Square" by deed poll. So Ashley's full name is now "Ashley Blue Square Revell".
I just hope he was playing European Roulette rather than American Roulette- the odds are better. But then it doesn´t matter, does it. He won.
